A tad late on the report - I had return client Tim Murphy and his brother in law Jim on an ocean tautog charter as both were relatively new to togging. Tog fishing was good in spurts with lots of quality fish from 6 to 9 pounds and the guys boxed their limit up to 9 pounds. Didn't see much striper life on the way back.

Striped bass from 25 inches to 40+ pounds - great bassing on the jig!!!

Double charters - Great bassing even with the starting temps at 28 degrees...

In the morning, I had new client David A, his wife Tamikka, and their 8-yr old son on a 4hr striped bass charter. We had stiff west winds and cold temps, but caught a bunch of striped bass up to 40+ pounds before the Atlantic flu set in. We ended early with 4 keepers to 31 inches.

Next, I had return client Nick C, his son Aidan, and Dave A on a 5hr striped bass charter. The guys went right to work in the same area boxing our 8-fish boat LIMIT and playing C&R with fish up to 39 inches. We switched over to tautog for the remainder of the trip to release a dozen and box 2 keepers to 17 inches. Water was pretty dirty for tautog, but still had a nice cooler of fish for the table.

A Happy Thanksgiving to all of my charter clients who sailed with us over the past 13 years - looking forward to many more.

With the school schedule - a tad tougher getting out. But over the past week, I had return clients Paul P, his son and brother on an 3hr afterschool trip. The guys did a bang up job on the striped bass and boxed 7 keepers for the table.

Later in the week, I had return client John W, his wife Jenna, and friend Ken K on a shorter afternoon trip. They wanted to start with tautog and released a ton (no keeps), before a few seals killed the bite. We moved further off, but got covered in spiny dogs. A quick switch to striped bass and it was game on with fish from 34 in to 35 pounds. Jenna and Ken caught their largest ever striped bass!! Even I was able to catch a few...

I ran a 3hr late afternoon striped bass charter with J. Burke, his son Braiden, and Uncle Gary. We tried taking a peek outside and around the inlet, but it was way too rough. So we stayed inside and worked a few areas - the guys did a great job connecting and boxing 4 striped bass up to 27.5 inches. Tougher afternoon with the winds, tide, and somewhat dirty water, but great job by the guys!!

Great fishing for Friday - NW winds and excellent numbers of striped bass without even reaching the ocean. I started off with return client Bob Reim and his crew on a 4hr striped bass / tog charter. We picked through a dozen striped bass to box 5 keepers and release a few over 31's. Finished the last 2 hours boxing our limit of tautog to 17.5 inches and releasing a bunch.

Next, I had return client George "Cookieman", Mike P, and crew on a 4hr trip. We started with different tidal conditions boxed a few, but released under 24's and over 31's. Moved to a less crowded area to box 3 more striped bass and releasing 7 more.

With less than 1 1/2 hours, we switched to tautog and worked two spots to produced our 5-fish limit to 18.5 inches. Great job by Luke to mate the second trip. A huge thanks to George for bringing me a Penn combo to replace a dropped rod from our summer trip (not expected, but much appreciated!!)

Finished the night with an 80's Murder / Mystery dinner with my wife in Peddler's Village (first time, but pretty cool). Weekend off - back at it next week.

A little tougher on the striped bass bite today, but return client Joe Hoffman and family worked hard to hook close to 10 bass - keeping 5 for the table to 27 inches utilizing the SBBP tags. We hit a few wrecks and the inlet area, but the dirtier water and limited time only allowed for 1 keeper to be boxed. The guys released close to 25 tog in the short amount of time. Can't get over this July-like weather in November!!

Great temperatures and great fishing as I had return client Pat Thomas family and friends on a 5hr striped bass charter. We executed our game plan and it payed off with some nice striped bass being caught and put on ice to 30.25 inches. With slack tide and in the shadows of "Old Barney" we released over 55 short and keeper tautog while keeping their 5-man limit to 17 inches, even shared our space with another charter late to the bite. With some time remaining, we hit some good tidal areas to box our 5th keeper striped bass! Excellent day, excellent execution!!

Busy family weekend - made delicious Andy's "stuffies" (stuffied clams) out of this month's On The Water magazine. They went down great with stout from Big Oyster Brewery in DE. '

Monday - I had new client Dan out of Virginia along with his two buddies from Pennsylvania. We started out togging and landed over 50 but could not get past 14 7/8. We switched over to striped bass in the calm waters and found a pile of feeding fish to 30.25 inches. The guys boxed 5 keepers for the table!

A buddy of mine let me know he saw a beautiful bald eagle, stopped on the way home to get a few pics!!

Tautog to 17 inches and backbay stripers to 29.5in!!!

During the week I had Bob Dodds and his cousin Joe on a 3.5hr bay/inlet charter. We targeted tog first and the guys released over 40 fish including 15+ keepers. We kept our 3-fish limit to 17 inches. With about an hour left, we worked live baits to box a solid 29.5 inch striped bass.

Next I had Bruce Connor of Illinois for an 3.5hr bay/inlet charter. We had birds working and played catch and release with bluefish up to 10 pounds. They were hitting both the bucktail and topwater poppers. A quick switch to tautog and we released close to 50 of which close to 18 were keepers. We kept our 2-fish limit to 18 inches. We had about an hour to attempt for striped bass with live baits, but could only muster 3 bluefish as we didn’t have the tidal current we needed.

We have openings on Tuesdays and Thursdays for our afterwork special charters up to 3 anglers and these include crabs and 18 live spot. Bluefish, striped bass, and tautog are the main targets. Cost $440

Ran a shorter 3hr charter afterschool on Friday due to the sea conditions (no go on sea bass) so the guys opted to play with tautog inside. We had ripping currents to 3knt but they still ended up releasing close to 30 tog while each keeping their 1 fish limit.

With some better reports of striped bass, we will be doing our 3.5hr weekday afternoon striper trips which include LIVE SPOT.

We will be running workday specials for striped bass as these are 3.5 hour trips, include live spot and will target stripers at the inlet and bay. Cost will be $425 for up to 3 guys which includes about 20 spot.

It's been awhile with the winds and conditions. The end of fluke season was a total bust as we ended with 7 cancellations!!

We found a window to jump outside running 2 sea bass charters and both ended with full boat LIMITS of sea bass, nice porgies, bluefish, and a few nice triggers. Both charters also released chub mackerel, bluefish, and OoS fluke. The afternoon trip got a little sporty - we picked our 20-fish limit, tried for uncooperative mahi, and ended playing catch and release with 20+ inch bluefish at the inlet. 5 keepers for Bruce C - 4hr Ocean weekday

I had return client Bruce C of Illinois on a 4hr Ocean fluke charter on Friday afternoon. We had limited time so we hit an area that had some fish based on intel from a fellow offshore charter captain Tom Frey. Due to the run, we only fished for about 2.5 hours and had over 35 shorts with 5 keepers to 22 inches. Solid afternoon to close out the week and big thanks to Capt. Frey!! If your looking to hit offshore yellowfin, mahi or swordfish - he’s your guy out of Waretown!

We will begin our evening striped bass trips the end of September and weekday afternoon sea bass starting October 1st.

Been awhile, but we have been very busy between the school year and running weekday charters for our return clients. Always appreciate them!!

Ocean trips have been good on action but tougher on keepers due to limited time to work the wrecks. We have been averaging 35 to 40 shorts with 3 to 5 keepers per 4hr ocean charters. Bay charters are faring about the same with 40 fluke and 3 to 4 keepers. We have also been catching mahi, ling, sea bass, and some nice porgies!!

Bay blowfish action was decent on our first charter with return lcient Zekwith 25 blowfish, 3 kingfish and a bunch of fish (sea bass, blowfish, pinfish, dogfish) released in 3hrs.

We will begin our evening striped bass trips the end of September and weekday afternoon sea bass starting October 1st.

A tad late on the report - but I had return client Tim Murphy and a few workers from Subaru Park (soccer - Philadelphia Union) on a 5hr ocean charter. We worked a bunch of spots picking through shorts, but could only muster 4 keeper fluke to 24 inches. The Atlantic flu went 2 for 4. Still a nice day on the water!!

School is back - so we will be running weekday afternoons / weekends until the fluke season closes, followed by our 3hr night striper trips starting at the end of September!

Aug 24 - Good ocean fluking

Late post - we ended the week with 3 charters working both the bay and ocean.

First, I had new client Bradley D. and family on a bay charter, we worked a bunch of spots to produce 55 shorts while boxing 3 keepers to 21 in.

In the windy afternoon, I had return client Marty Burns and his buddy on a 4hr Ocean charter. The south wind was kicking, but the guys did their best catching a variety of species including: fluke, sea bass, bluefish, ling, and mahi.

On Friday, I had Mike Galindo and his buddy Tom on a 5hr ocean charter. We worked a variety of spots and the crew boxed 7 keeper fluke for their limit along with a limit of sea bass.

Taking a few days off and spending some much needed time off with my family!!

Stuck in the bay due to Hurricane Ernesto's swell - decent mix of fish!

I had return client Ralph R (Mahi socks), Steve R, and Jigs Dalton on a 5hr bay charter due to the hurricane swell - inlet a little sporty. We started working jigs for fluke and the guys released over 25 fluke keeping 2 for the table. We lost our third keeper about a 20in at the surface.

With the help of mate Luke, we changed up tackle and hit a bay rock pile for tautog. The guys did a great job releasing close to 40 tog while keeping 3. Bent rods and lots of laughs as always!!

Double trips - 14 keeper fluke for the day - decent bite!!

Ran double yesterday - 14 keepers total.

I had return client Sean Schivera on a 5hr Ocean charter and we hit a new area. First drop - only shorts. I made a move and we had our boat LIMIT by 930am. Sean boxed a nice 25 incher to round out the box, and we added a few ling along with a keeper sea bass. We threw quite a few shorts and a few keepers back.

Next, I had return client David Block, Brandon, and friend Evan on a 5hr Ocean charter. With slightly different conditions, I hit the same area and the guys worked through a bunch of shorts to box 5 keepers to 23 inches, their limit of sea bass, and a few ling.

Triple Charters Thursday - Epic fluke fishing!!

Triple charters today - Good fluking again!!

Morning - I had Jesse Sipe and his son Ryan on a 5hr Ocean charter, but it only took us till 9am to box our FULL LIMIT of 9 keeper fluke to 24 inches. The father & son team added their limit of sea bass and a few ling. Epic bite on the reef!

Next, I had Peter Wessel and family of Barnegat Light on a 3hr bay fluke charter. We worked 4 different areas to release 36 fluke while boxing 2 keepers (18, 19.5). Great job by all!

Last, I had Victor Eng and his two boys Liam and Ethan on a 3hr sea bass charter. The boys worked 2 wrecks to produce a solid limit of sea bass to 20 inches, a few ling, and a 18.5 inch fluke. The boys released a few OoS porgies and did a great job on their first ocean trip!!
