Very Windy - 6 keeper fluke to 21 inches!

Very challenging windy conditions the other day, but I had return client George, his daughter, and two friends on a 4hr charter. We worked some old and new areas to release close to 25 shorts, while boxing 6 keeper fluke to 21 inches, along with 2 bluefish. Tough day, but at least we put something together!

Friday fluke to 5.5 pounds and 32 sea bass for Saturday's trip!

Friday - I had return client Tom W, his son 4yr old son Jakob, and father Tom on a 4hr bay fluke trip. We worked a bunch of areas to release 30 fluke and box 3 keepers to 23.5 inches. Great job on "fluke master" Jakob on his fluke caught completely by himself!! That's what it's about!!

Saturday - I had return client Paul Kaufman, Conrad K, Brad, Peter Scharf and Steve Scharf on a 5hr Sea Bass charter. The boys grinded through about 7 different pieces to box 32 keeper sea bass, 3 ling, and a big porgy. Tougher grind, but most were quality fish with the biggest just over 18 inches.

5 keeper fluke - 25+ shorts

Late on the report, but I had Robert Boyle, his two sons, and Brian on a 4hr bay charter. A little bit of a challenge with the conditions, some algae and water temperature, but the boys were about to sort through 24+ shorts to box 5 keepers to 19.5 inches. Not stellar in terms of size, but at least put a few in the box.

6 keeper summer flounder - better size this trip.

I had return client Bob Dodds and crew on a 4hr bay fluke chaurter. With not great tide, brought the striper stuff just in case. But hit some "new" areas to be pleasantly surprised - guys released over 25 short fluke and boxed 6 keepers with a few in the 22-23 in range.

Bookings have been extremely heavy this year, no dates remain in October through December (FULLY BOOKED). June - 1 slot available, July - 8 slots, August - 6 slots; See you out there.

8 keepers - fluke on the feed in the wind....

Much better fluking despite the winds as I had return client Dave Cammarata and crew on a 4hr fluke charter. We worked a new area that looked decent with water clarity. The guys released over 27 shorts while boxing 8 keepers to 22 inches. Awesome job working the live baits.

1st Fluke trip - Tough conditions - 25 shorts 1 keep

Tough bite for us today - I had return client Bob Dodds, 86yr old Cesar and Bert of the Village Harbor fishing club on a 4hr fluke trip. The guys worked jigs releasing over 25 short fluke and boxed only 1 keeper. We had cool water and some dirty conditions to contend with plus we ran quite a ways to find biting fish. Tough, but the guys worked hard.

Double trips - tog and bass - but water pretty dirty to end tautog spring!!

Extremely late on the report - I had a double trip over the past week. In the morning, I had return client Aaron E and buds on a shorter tog trip, but due to some unforeseen circumstances we had to play it close. The guys worked through 25 short tog to box 3 keepers to 6 pounds.

In the afternoon, I had return client Bob Dodds and his cousin Joe on a 4hr bay charter. We searched for backbay bass, but could only muster a few bites, a short striped bass and a nice blowfish. With an hour left and poor tide, we switched to tog - hit a small piece to release 22 short tog and boxed 2 keepers.

Definitely not our day, but at least we bent some rods. We are looking forward to fluke in the bay, and the sea bass opener and will be out.

Striped bass to 39 inches and some tautog!

I had return client Lou Sigillo and his buddy Murph on their annual spring bay charter. We used the skiff and worked some ultra shallow areas to release 8 striped bass to 39 inches while keeping one for the box (29in). Slower action, but some nicer fish from 33 to 39 inches in 4ft of water. With an hour left, we hit a few rocks to release a dozen tautog and boxing 1 keeper. Nice afternoon on the bay!!

Barnegat bay striped bass - short tog.

I had return client Bob Dodds and his cousin Joe on a 4hr bay skiff charter. The two cousins, 79 and 80 years old respectively, did a great job releasing close to a dozen striped bass in skinny water. They were able to box a full boat limit of 3 striped bass from 29 inches to 31 inches. We switched over to tog and released a dozen shorts without a keep. Bob Dodds Charter - Striped bass to 29 inches

It was great being on the water again with clients, I had return client Bob Dodds, Ed V., and John S of Village Harbor Fishing club on a 4hr charter. We worked a few tight areas to produce striped bass to 29 inches. The guys worked hard and boxed 2 keepers (28.5, 29) and released a few more on live bait. We tried for tautog, but the water was extremely dirty, so bites were few and far between.

New upgrades - Minn Kota Riptide Instinct trolling motor - R2 Custom Rods

We re-tooled our Parker with an updated Minn Kota Riptide Instinct trolling motor and backup Riptide Terrova trolling for the 2024 season. Both updated motors features an Indestructible shaft, brushless motors, and lots of new / old features: DRIFT, SPOTLOCK, and advanced battery management, plus many more.

I started building rods over the fall, and we are currently making Ocean Fluke, Bay Fluke, and Tog Jig rods. My rods are hand-wrapped and made from quality sourced blanks and components. If there is enough interest, we may sell limited numbers.

So far 2024 has about 94 trips booked out from March through December 2024 - if you want to get on the schedule, please submit a booking through the website to get on the schedule.

First trip of 2024 - but last for the boat.

Well - 1st trip of 2024 ended up being Luke’s day as he boxed a 7, 8, 9 and released a 10. We didn’t have much time so stayed close and ended with 5k to 9 pounds. Plenty of short life amongst the bigger ones. With the bad weather, pulled the vessel for the season. See ya in the Spring!!!
