We didn't fish any trips early in the week due to the south winds which have cooled the ocean water temperatures down to a balmy 58F. This has made both ocean and bay fluke fishing challenging.
We had a few bay and ocean trips late in the week - Bay trips have been averaging 1-3 keepers with close to 35 shorts per trip. Ocean trips are producing much better with short to keeper ratios at 4 to 1.
Bay - Return client Mike Duus, his father, and niece were out for a 3hr bay trip boxing a nice 21in fluke and 20 shorts. We worked some cocktail blues for an hour and they boxed 7 for the table, while playing C&R with others. Mike fried up the cocktail blues which he said were delicious!
Bay - Return client Trinity Saffer and her family were in again from Colorado visiting LBI and wanted a C&R sunset trip. They worked bucktails to close to 20 fluke, including 2 keepers which we released, plus we dodged a T-storm.
Ocean - Return client Mike Michael Geddis and his two boys did a great job jigging up 7 keeper fluke with the smallest at 19 inches and most averaging 22-23 inches. We fished open bottom for the majority of the trip, then hit a small snag close to the inlet to box 3 keeper sea bass to 15 inches.
